Tales from Halloween Haunts

"It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year!"

When Andy Williams sang that song, he was talking about the winter holiday season.  But I use those words to describe all of the fun events surrounding Halloween!

I'm sure that you guys have been heading out to your local parks each weekend to hit up their Halloween events.  Some of you might even be going to stand-alone haunts where the terror and fear is bumped up a few notches.

For our Halloween show, we want to hear from you about the unique storylines on display at a haunt you've visited recently.

Psychologically, a haunt is most effective when the designers can suck you in to a story that you ultimately become a part of.

Before we go to the parks, each of has a routine that we have to follow to ensure we have a good time.

Maybe it involves internet research about the park's rides, attractions and restaurants.

Maybe it involves packing certain items that we can fit into our pockets (sunglasses, sunscreen, asprin, etc) that will help us survive the hot temperatures and glaring sun.

Maybe you need to create a special playlist for your iPod that will get you in just the right mood for the hour-plus ride to the park.

Maybe you travel all over your county looking for the best discount coupons that will give you the cheapest ticket.

What's Your Take on the Coaster Clubs?

About 15 years ago, before the internet was in everyone's home, the big theme park fan organization was the American Coaster Enthusiasts.

It was the place to be if you were interested in meeting up with others who enjoyed going to the parks and riding coasters.

Once the internet gained popularity, it became easier for other "coaster clubs" to spring up and attract members.

Today there are dozens of coaster clubs all over the world.

Each one is a little different and boasts different perks and reasons why someone might want to join.

On this week's show, we want to know your opinion on coaster clubs.  Which ones have you joined?  Why did you think it was important?  What's your favorite part about being in the club?  Is there a "dark side" to being in the group?

Your Favorite Theme Park Spot

One of my favorite things about going to my home park of Busch Gardens Williamsburg is visiting a hidden, shady spot near Griffon.

I usually grab a drink or a bite to eat and then just sit there in that spot and watch the coaster go by over and over again.

It's a great place to take a break during the middle of the day and watch the gracefulness of one of the best roller coasters on earth.

Outside of Disney, that's one of my favorite spots in any theme park.

The Most Underrated Roller Coaster

The Beast.  Millennium Force. The Voyage.

These are all roller coasters that get talked about a lot!

They're great rides, so they deserve the hype they get in enthusiast circles and the general public.

But there are also some really excellent roller coasters out there that never get talked about.  These rides are under appreciated and under publicized.
