CoasterRadio.com #626 - California Questions

We've spent the past two shows going over every details of our California Trip that included visits to Disneyland and Disney California Adventure.

But even with two whole hours devoted to both parks, there were things we missed.

AND... the CoasterRadio.com audience was quick to remind us of the things we forgot to talk about.

PLUS, there were some things that we said about the Disney's West Coast parks that upset some of our listeners.  So, they sent strongly worded e-mails to let us know how they felt.

We had so many e-mails and interest about the last two shows, that we decided to set aside this episode and answer all of them!

Plus, we preview next week's show which is all about our visit to the set of "How I Met Your Mother." We even spill the beans on some of the stories about what we saw and did!

Make sure to set your DVRs to record "our" episode of HIMYM!  It airs Monday, April 16th at 8pm est on CBS!

CoasterRadio.com #609 - A Lost Episode!

The guys had planned on producing a regular show this week, but Mike came down with a pretty bad case of the flu.

So, after some thought, they decided to enlist the help of Clint Novak from The Coaster Crew and dig out an episode of the show that has never been heard on our podcast feed before!

Let me explain....

Back in 2007, after Coaster Radio 1.0 had gone off the air, Mike, Flava and Mario formed a team to compete in the first ever "Single Riders Marathon" charity event at Kennywood Park.

Now, the marathon had nothing to do with being single.  Instead, it meant that each marathon rider would fill an empty seat on a coaster and complete as many laps as possible during the day.

People would then pledge a certain amount of money for every coaster lap counted.

As part of this event, Flava , Mario and Mike produced an episode of "The Coaster Crew's Guide to the Midway" on-location at the park.

We thought this show was lost forever, but Will Holder was able to dig it up out of the archives this week!

So, since Mike is sick, we decided to play this show for the first time ever on OUR podcast.

For all of you who have missed Flava and Mario... this one's for you.

The David Arquette Project - Sky Rocket and Ghostwood Estate

Zach was one of the lucky few to participate in the commercial shoot for Kennywood's new roller coaster "Sky Rocket." He was able to ride it before it has opened to the public! Cool!

But he also took time to take some creative shots for our latest contest! Ghostwood Estate has been taken over by The David Arquette Project!

The CoasterRadio.com Podcast Is Back!

2009 must be the year of "the comeback." Because Pee Wee Herman is back and so are we.

Today marks the relaunch of the Coaster Radio.com podcast.

The original podcast began in 2005 and ran for two years. After a three year absence, EB and I are back for a weekly show.

You'll notice that the new show has a few changes, but one thing that remains the same is the interactivity with the audience. We have a ton of ways for you to be a part of the show. We hope you'll take advantage!

This week, we talk about what's new with CR, 2010 ride announcements, Disney's new FastPass ideas as well as a ton of other stuff.

Kennywood in 2010

Kennywood just announced that they are building an LSM launch coaster from Premier Rides for 2010.

The unnamed coaster will feature a launch that will propel you to 50 mph in just three seconds. The ride will also feature two 90 degree drops and three inversions.

This marks the first time riders will go upside down on a Kennywood roller coaster since Steel Phantom became Phantom's Revenge in 2000.

The new ride will be placed on the current site of The Turnpike.

But never fear traditional coasterboys! The loss of The Turnpike is only temporary.
The park plans to move the classic ride to another location.

From the looks of the animation, the ride seems to be a nice fit. It's not too extreme for a family park, yet it still offers some "modern" thrills are currently missing from the coaster lineup.

Adventureland Trailer

A new film from the director of Superbad is coming to theaters soon. The reason it's getting some buzz around the amusement industry is because it was shot at Kennywood Park!

The trailer is great because it really shows off the park well. Were any of you out there extras in the film?

Talk more about this in the CoasterRadio.com forums.
