CoasterRadio.com #513 - The Best of 2010

2010 may be officially gone, but it still lives on here at Coaster Radio! (for this week, anyway!)

On this week's show, EB and Mike take a look back and talk about the most interesting stories from 2010.  The listeners also get into the act by calling into the show and giving their opinion on what worked and what didn't in 2010.

From The Wizarding World of Harry Potter to World of Color to Intimidator 305, the listeners get passionate about their favorite stories.

There's also big news in the Neil Patrick Harris Project!  As you may recall, we produced a tear-jerking holiday tribute to NPH and released it on YouTube last Christmas Eve.  We've been waiting patiently to hear Neil's response.  Could this be the week he calls in again?

Plus, we have news about some upcoming shows and summertime activities here at the show!

CoasterRadio.com #504 - They Can't All Be Like Clark Grizwold

"I gotta be crazy!
I'm on a pilgrimage to see a moose!"
Clark W. Grizwold was the ultimate parent.

All he cared about was giving his family the best vacation ever.

He would do ANYTHING to make his family happy, even if it meant kidnapping John Candy and making him ride the "Screamie Meemie" against his will.

Of course, the antics in the movie "Vacation" are overblown.  But the stories we have for you this week are 100% authentic!

This week, EB and Mike will share listener stories about the horrible parenting they have seen at the parks.

You'll be absolutely shocked at what some of the listeners have seen.  Thankfully, much of it is also pretty funny.

The guys will also crown a winner in the "Arquette Arithmetic" contest.  Find out who will win two season passes to the (non-Disney) theme park of their choice!

Plus, there's more info on "The Neil Patrick Harris Project!"  The guys will present proof of NPH's love of theme parks and talk about future plans to get his attention.

The David Arquette Project - Nemesis at Alton Towers

Oliver recently took a trip to Alton Towers to ride their legendary inverted roller coaster, Nemesis.

The on-ride photo shows that someone famous was seated next to him. Did Oliver realize that this photo would soon be part of The David Arquette Project?

Mr. Arquette sure does look calm and collected, even though this is a forceful roller coaster.

Nice Photoshop work Oliver!

CoasterRadio.com #429 - The Hype Machine

On this week's show, EB and Mike discuss the pros and cons of he most recent "Super Fans" conference call with Six Flags CEO Mark Shapiro.

There were some really amazing and candid moments during the call, but did Six Flags miss an opportunity to maximize the good PR?

The guys also discuss the recently opened "Th13teen" at Alton Towers in England. Video has been released on the web and some enthusiasts are less than thrilled. Did the Alton Tower's hype machine over-do it this time?

Plus, EB goes "Off-Topic" to talk about the rise of Twitter and Mike has information about a possible new direction for the podcast.

CoasterRadio.com #423 - The "Complainey" Show

We're all guaranteed the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

But it's a lesser known fact that every theme park fan is guaranteed the right to complain.

On this week's show, we hand over the microphone to our listeners and let the complain about anything and everything related to theme parks.

We were surprised at some of the things that annoy you guys!

We also talk about the recent announcement that Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom has closed for good. What does this mean for the people of Louisville, Kentucky and what will happen to all of the rides? There might be some behind the scenes maneuvering that will surprise you.

Plus, EB will go "Off-Topic" to discuss how he might have been charged with breaking and entering, while Mike talks about who he'd like to see replace Simon Cowell on American Idol.

We'll also have news on The David Arquette Project and Mike's quest to make it on stage for The American Idol Experience at Disney's Hollywood Studios!

Let's Help Oliver Experience TH13TEEN!

Oliver, one of our listeners from the U.K. is a creative dude.

He used some creativity to take part in The David Arquette Project not too long ago.

But now he has turned his creative energy towards a rather unique contest that is being offered by Alton Towers.

To celebrate the opening of their new attraction Th13teen in a few months, they are inviting determined thrill seekers to test their bravery with an application process that they say "makes Big Brother seem like your little sister!"

Alton Towers Resort has put together a team of experts (including UK Celebrity Big Brother winner Alex Reid) who will put wannabe riders through their paces in a series of grueling tests including:

  • Psychometric testing
  • Interrogation interview
  • Rollercoaster endurance
  • Midnight 'bootcamp'
Our listener Oliver wants to be one of the chosen few. So let's get behind him!

All you have to do is visit the Alton Towers Facebook Page, go to the section featuring all of the Th13teen videos and leave a comment saying how much you like Oliver's video. To find it, click on the video with the picture of the guy with the green face (that's Oliver in the photo!)

If Oliver wins, he'll give CoasterRadio.com the scoop on the new ride before anyone else!

It's a Win-Win proposition for everyone!

Good Luck Oliver!
