CoasterRadio.com #603 - Halloween is Almost Here!

We're just a few days away from one of our favorite holidays here at Coaster Radio... Halloween!

This week, we're going to celebrate early by talking with the owner of the World's Longest Indoor Haunted Attraction... The Factory of Terror in Canton, Ohio.

The Guinness Book of World Records recently certified that this amazing haunt has once again claimed this impressive distinction.

We'll find out what it takes to to put on a world-class haunt and what terrifying experiences visitors might encounter when they visit.

We'll also discuss the most recent promotion at Six Flags Over Georgia.  As part of their celebration of Fright Fest, visitors were invited to eat a live Madagascar Hissing Cockroach.  If they succesfully ate the bug, they won a Season Pass.

EB and Mike talk about what it would take to get them to eat a roach and then get to the bottom of finding out who came up with this unique idea.

Plus, we have a Live Trip Report from a popular California Haunted Attraction and we find out how we're doing in the voting for the 2011 Podcast Awards!

CoasterRadio.com #502 - Inside Universal Orlando and Halloween Horror Nights

We're one week closer to Halloween!

If you love All Hallows Eve and you love theme parks, this is the episode for you.

This week, we're joined by Seth Kubersky.  He's the author of Universal Orlando 2011: The Ultimate Guide to the Ultimate Theme Park Adventure.

He'll give us the insider scoop about the 20th Annual Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Orlando.  He'll tell us what we should make sure to see and what most people tend to miss.

He'll also tell us some behind the scenes stories about The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Islands of Adventure.  He'll tell us how you can see Hogwarts Castle without waiting in line and if guests will ever be able to spend the night within it's enchanted walls.

Plus, he'll tell us about how the Wizarding World almost ended up at Walt Disney World and what happened that caused it to be built at Universal.

This week, we also have details about a possible encounter with Neil Patrick Harris.  We're only one week into "The Neil Patrick Harris Project," but the possibility exists that NPH is already a fan of the show.

Could "The NPH Project" do what "The David Arquette Project" could not?

They also play some audio from inside the "scare zones." You'll think the chainsaw wielding maniacs are right behind you!

The guys also talk about the storylines behind some of the more creative haunts and how local urban legends make for the best attractions.

They'll also reveal your ideas for theme park attractions based on the best horror films ever.

Plus, EB and Mike go "Off Topic" to talk about EB's Mystery Novel and Mike's puzzlement over a "Nostradamus Halloween Scam" used to pick up college girls.

Three Cheers for Universal Orlando!

Just make sure the cheer you give isn't "Bloody Mary". If you say that there times, there's no telling what will happen.

I have to say, I was totally sucked in my Universal Orlando's brilliant web marketing scheme for this year's Halloween Horror Nights.

Over the past few weeks, they slowly gave away clues about the identity of the main icon for the event. They even had live events at the park where curious people could show up and receive mysterious information.

That's dedication to an art form.... or dedication to electronic marketing.... probably both.

As you can see by the billboard, "Bloody Mary" will be haunting the event this year.

I haven't been to a Halloween Horror Nights event since 1995 when the very lame "Crypt Keeper" was running around cracking non-funny jokes. I think I'll have to make a return trip this year to see what Bloody Mary has in store for us.

Is there any better halloween event in the country?

Talk about this in the CoasterRadio.com forums.
