Over the past few weeks, we have received several e-mails from listeners who have said that they have quit their days jobs and gone to work at theme parks.
Some work in managerial roles, but others actually work operating the rides and attractions.
That got us thinking, would you ever give up your career to go to work at a theme park? If so, what would it take to get you to do it? What job would you most like to have?
We're looking for answers to put on our next show.

I've always considered this question, but ultimately don't think I'd want to work at a theme park...yet. I have too many friends in the industry who have too many horror stories of atrocious customers and working conditions. However, I've always told my wife when I retire I'm going to go work at Disneyland. I figure by the time I reach retirement age, I won't care any more. And of course, I'd like to pass my respect, knowledge and love of the greatest theme park in the world to the next generation.
ReplyDeleteAt the moment I'm still studying, so until I finished that, I won't consider a change. But later, if I get a offer to work for Imagineering or something similar, I wouldn't think a second and quit.

ReplyDeleteBut my dream job is Imagineering. Next best thing, carnival barker (i.e. the guy manning the games at the Ocean City Boardwalk). I'd probably do way more to make it easier for the little kids to win, though. I'm just a bleeding heart like that!

Right now I'm a professional truck driver and I live in Orlando so it wouldn't be much of a jump for me to go back to a commercial drivers school and get my CDL (Commercial Drivers License) class B with a Passenger Endorsement on it and then then work at WDW driving a buss between all the parks and resorts that are on property as well as taking tourists to the Disney Cruise Ships in Port Canaveral.
